5 Keyboard Shortcuts

för 58 månader sedan

Welcome back!

Sometimes we all get frustrated with our computers, whether it be because the internet is too slow, certain sites won’t work, or simply because we’re tired of how long it takes to accomplish tasks. Due to the fact that I find the last point particularly troubling, I decided to put together an entry of 5 keyboard shortcuts you may have been oblivious to. Before I start, I would like to mention that these shortcuts work with most PC/laptop computers from the research I have done, but I apologize if these don’t work for you.  I would also like to note that if your computer has a ‘Command’ key instead of the ‘Ctrl’ key, they are both of the same effect. Thank you!

1. Quick exit

Holding down the ‘Ctrl’ key at the same time as the ‘w’ key is a quick way to exit a tab, especially if you have a slow mouse-to-computer response. Don’t try this one out until you’re done reading, though!

2. Black heart

First, press the ‘NumLock’ key. Then, hold down the ‘Alt’ key at the same time as the ‘3’ in the section underneath the ‘NumLock’ key. Your result should look like this: ‘♥’!

3. New tab

When using Google Chrome, pressing the ‘Ctrl’ key at the same time as the ‘t’ key will make a new tab without the mouse having to be touched!

4. Facebook & Twitter

For all the Facebook & Twitter users, pressing the ‘j’ key will help you scroll through posts without having to touch your mouse (which is perfect if you’re struggling with a slow response to your mouse from your computer.)

5. Foreign language accents

If you, like me, study a foreign language and struggle to type out letters with accents when writing essays, there are plenty of ways to type these characters. Typing in ‘(insert name of language) accent codes’ into Google will give you a quick way to write in the language of your choice!
