It's Written in the Stars
Auroras, constellations, satellites, galaxies and planets; when we gaze up at the night sky, we are exposed to a whole new world. The nearest star being away, you can only imagine what lies out there.
With autumn fast approaching, nights are getting longer and colder, the protagonist of this season's night sky is none other than 'Pegasus.' A large constellation of the northern hemisphere, in the form of a winged horse (as described in Greek mythology).
This constellation is one of the largest, and can be easily spotted by identifying what is known as "the Great Square" - or it's distinct side. This part of Pegasus is so great that it is large enough to fit 30 full moons side by side.
Pegasus isn't the only 'star' of the show this October. In fact - our solar system's largest planet - Jupiter, will reveal itself to skywatchers during this month. Located exactly within the constellation "Taurus," it sits just in between the horns. This halloween you have something extra to look forward to - you will be able to see the gas giant Jupiter form a dazzling ensemble with the moon.
Dolls - binoculars out, telescopes ready, get away from city lights - it's time to discover the mysteries of our solar system!
