10 Ways to Wear Pink Next Spring

161 måneder siden

Spring 2012 Fashion Week is in full swing here in New York, and we’re ogling over all the flowy, romantic, I’m-so-glad-I-was-born-a-girl looks that the upcoming season has to offer. For spring, designers are garnering a truly womanly vision: we’re seeing less androgyny and architectural/geometric lines and more of the feminine flavor that makes dressing up so much fun. And what better way to begin than paying tribute to one of the prettiest shades on the spectrum: pink. Below, check out 10 ways to wear pink next season as inspired by the shows so far at NYFW.

DKNY

As outwear: There’s no better way to shed the winter blues in the springtime than with a burst of color. As the snow melts, say goodbye to your black pea coat and sport a lightweight jacket in pink. You’ll feel invincible.

Tommy Hilfiger

At your internship or for a class presentation: Go legally blonde at school or the office but with a more (appropriately) subdued shade. Try a classic shirtdress in dusty rose or a creamy pale pink.

Adam

Head to toe: If you look at this runway image and think, “I could totally rock that,” then more (girl) power to you! If you’re ever brave/confident enough to pull off this look, make sure you break up all that pink with contrasting accessories, like this belt. Also, opt for pink denim or at least two different shades if you can.

Cushnie Et Ochs

Like Barbie: This body-hugging cocktail dress was made for the ultimate girly girl. I mean, check out those pink pumps! Seriously, unless this looks like one of your personal wardrobe staples, leave this look to the pros. And pros, keep your hair down and voluminous, your nails manicured, and your makeup natural to play up the femme factor.

Ruffian

With red: To give off less of a Valentine’s Day vibe, tone down one of the two colors. Mix pale pink—almost a beige, even—with a striking red to pop.

Peter Som

With powder blue: Same principle here: go for a fuchsia or even a hot pink to contrast the lightness of the baby blue, and you’ve got an unforgettable outfit on your hands.

Christian Siriano

With lime green: Now here’s a duo you probably didn’t see coming. A touch of an electric green next to a delicate shade of pink shows off the playful side of style. Go on, go for the quirky with this one!

Jill Stuart

With texture: For a more two-dimensional statement, find pink pieces in fabrics like silk and tie tunics at the waist for a sophisticated look.

Jen Kao

With a crazy print: And of course, pink makes the perfect accent in a whimsical print. Have fun with graphic print dresses, tops, and bottoms! Don’t forget to mix and match those prints.
