Making Friends in a New School
I know a post about starting a new school has been written many times before, so this isn't going to be a post about the first day. This is going to be a post about what to do when you haven't made any friends and break comes. I've actually started a new school recently so I know how it feels, not fun! :(
* Ask questions - at the class right before break, ask the person you're sitting next to anything you want to know. They'll usually be kind enough to answer and maybe you'll have made a friend.
* Don't talk about yourself too much - I have to admit, when I have no conversation topics I'll switch to talking about myself... But, if you talk about yourself too much you might come off as self-obsessed and that's not a good first impression! Ask about the person you're talking to more instead, most people like to talk about themselves.
* Be subtle - if you want to have someone to eat lunch with, subtly hint at it by asking something like 'Oh, where's the lunch room?' and they might offer to show you and ask for you to sit with them. This might be suitable if you're worried if they will say no, but you can always ask if this fails. Most kind people will say yes.
If all else fails...
* Be alone - There's nothing wrong with being a loner, and even if it feels sad, it's fine. I like to hang out in my school library at lunch, and I hate to admit it, but on the first day I hung out in the toilet! (not recommend, please). Take a good book or listen to some music, it'll be fine.
Hope these help you! :)
