Being an Ethical Consumer!

113 maanden geleden

Being an ethical consumer means buying from companies that treat their workers, animals, and the environment well.  Supporting good companies like this will encourage other companies to be good too!  Here's how to choose which companies to buy from.

Do your research!
There are several places you can look in order to find out about the products you buy!  Try looking on the back of beauty products for information about if they test on animals and about other issues.  The website of your favourite products is also a useful resource!  If you want to dig deeper, try looking up the name of the company with the word "ethics"- this will provide you with even more information to help you make your decision!

Decide what's important to you!
The way that companies treat people and animals is always important, but you might want to consider your own values too.  For example, I don't like to buy clothes from stores that promote negative body image!  Think hard about the things you think are important, and try to figure out if those things are important to the company too.

Ask some questions!
Once you have all your information and understand your own values, there are a few questions to ask yourself about the company in order to help you decide whether or not to buy:
- Does this company hurt anyone?
- Does buying from this company feel right?
- Does this company help people, animals, or the environment?
- Does this company have the same values as me?

What values are the most important to you when you're buying products?
