Avoiding Procrastination
When you have a lot of work to do, it can be very easy to put it off and pretend it doesn't need to be done quite yet. This can become very stressful later when you realise you have three essays due tomorrow and haven't started any of them! Here are a few things that help me avoid procrastination.
Start simple
The easiest way to start doing something is just to start as soon as possible. Even if you're just writing a title or first sentence, you are setting yourself up a starting place. Once you have that starting place, all you need to do is continue! Work sentence by sentence - this will ensure you don't feel like your goals are too big, and you will be able to make sure every sentence is quality.Take breaks
If you're working hard, it's easy to burn out and get less done than you meant to- or just drop off the bandwagon altogether. Taking regular breaks can also make the workload seem less, so starting is a bit easier! You might like to try having snacks in between, watch a short video, or exercise for a minute to get the blood flowing to your brain.Get in some relaxation
Make sure you get enough sleep if you're stressed, overworked, or prone to procrastination! If you're working hard, you will also need to eat plenty of nutritious food to keep your energy up. I find some good carboydrate filled foods like sweet potatoes are perfect! Team them up with a good book, tv show, or video game for your down time. How do you avoid procrastination?
