You may spend a fortune on expensive hair products and treatments, but Grandma was right when she said ‘you are what you eat!’ These healthy foods are the most delicious route to luscious locks:
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3’s help the hair shine. These fatty acids are found in many different fish and also in walnuts, almonds, flax seed oil, avocados and olives.
Protein
Hair is made up mostly of protein. Dietary protein is high in collagen that will support hair and increase strength. Try some lean meats, nuts, seeds, eggs or beans for great sources of protein. Salmon has plenty of protein and Omega-3’s making it a great “two birds with one stone” food source for healthy hair.
Vitamin B
This vitamin helps hair growth and is found in beef or tuna, but is also abundant in some fruit juices, especially acai.
Iron
Iron prevents hair loss and changes in pigment. This mineral is abundant in red meats, eggs, dried fruits, and dark green leafy vegetables like spinach. Iron will also give you body plenty of energy.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C aids iron absorption into the body and is an important component for the production of sebum, a natural hair conditioning oil secreted by the hair follicle. Vitamin C is plentiful in citrus fruits, leafy green veggies and avocados.
Biotin
Biotin deficiency causes hair to become brittle and the scalp to become scaly. Eating beans, nuts, molasses, meat, fish and dairy products will prevent this.
