The Telegraph is reporting that the record breaking
Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition may tour after all. By the time the Met closed the exhibit two weeks ago, it had shattered museum records with over 650,000 visitors,
lines snaking through the park and after-hours tickets selling for over $100. The exhibition, which started with pieces from McQueen’s graduate Central St. Martin’s collection and followed his career through Givenchy and his unfinished, posthumously released AW11 collection, was conceived and curated with the
Met in mind—just one of the many reasons given for the decision to not take the exhibition on tour. But now the
brand has released a statement saying they’re reconsidering, “Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the Savage Beauty exhibition. We have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now however nothing has been finalised. Please be assured that an official announcement will be made the moment we confirm our plans for London.” Their statement sounds promising, like they won’t stop trying until they make something happen. So if you were crazy enough to miss it this summer, you may be in luck after all!
