The Silk Road was the road that was traveled by merchants, convoys and ships from China and India through South Asia, passing Turkey and Eastern Europe on to Venice in Italy.  The other split of that road took the convoys through the Mesopotamia and Syria in order to reach The Mediterranean and through Petra and Jordan to reach the Arabic Peninsula and North Africa.

The Silk Road takes it's name from the lucrative Chinese Silk Trade which began since 3000 Years ago, and has in many ways affected several Civilizations such as the Chinese, Egyptian, Indian, and Roman Civilization.

Silk was so important that people began to trade it with precious stones equivalent to its weight, the West began to know the Chinese silk with all of its ornaments and beautiful colors.
The trade of silk had become such a success at that time, that its profits were considered the highest in the world, and not only trade took its toll on people but also the shift of religions that were unknown to either parts of these two worlds.
Gun powder, paper, gold, birds, rare animals, jewelry, spices, gold and silver coins were also amongst the most important goods traded all along this great road that stretched up to 6000 Km.
