Club Kid Fashion
To celebrate Pride Month on Stardoll, I wanted to create some outfits inspired by Club Kids, a group of personalities during the late 80s and early 90s in the New York club scene. Known for their artistic and extravagent fashion choices, their legacy has continued with the likes of Sussi, Imp Queen, Linux, Milk, and one of the original Club Kids Amanda Lepore. Within the fashion industry, designers including Jeremy Scott and Marc Jacobs have looked to the club culture to inspire collections.
With my first outfit, I paired the overalls with an o-ring detail bandeau. I then chose a chunky choker and bright blue shaggy fur coat that matches the hair. Complete the look with some stacked platforms – the bigger the platform the better! You could also add more hair-clips, a fur bag in a clashing color to the coat, and some bright socks.
The second outfit has a similar vibe with the striped fur coat and silver hotpants. I styled them with a black bodysuit with a chain detail, a matching choker and some Swear platforms. Instead of silver hotpants, you could choose a block color or even a clashing print.
With my next outfit, I chose this amazing bubblegum pink shawl styled off the shoulder. To contrast the pink, I paired it with a black PVC miniskirt, a McQueen inspired harness top and a chain belt. Instead of the shawl, you could opt for a slogan t-shirt and a bright fur stole worn over one shoulder. To complete the outfit, I chose Marc Jacobs inspired platforms, and would accessorise with a clear PVC fanny pack. For my final outfit, I kept it simple. This Discount Universe two-piece is perfect for the Club Kid look and can be layered over a mesh or fishnet long-sleeve top. A clear PVC jacket would work really well with this outfit.
Thank you for reading, and Happy Pride! 🌈
