Spooky Styling
With Halloween this week, it was only right that I styled a couple of outfits for the occasion. The outfits I have styled are perfect for couples or best friends!
For my first two outfits, I wanted to bring back my angel and devil outfits from last year as it’s such a classic Halloween concept. For the angel outfit, this feathery Saint Laurent dress is so angelic, and even more so with the rhinestone earrings and hairband. I completed the outfit with some simple metallic heels, although a pair of lace-up heels or even white boots would work too. For the devil outfit, I went with some red vinyl pants and a matching red tube top. A bright red slip dress or statement gown would be a great alternative. I then added the harness pieces inspired by Yeha Leung, some statement sunglasses, and flame platforms. This crystal skull bag is a perfect addition to the look.
For my next two outfits, I went for a super fun theme – a piece of art and the artist! Inspired by Tracee Ellis Ross’ Met Gala outfit (which paid homage to Lorraine O’Grady’s ‘Art Is…’) and Moschino SS20, for the art outfit, I had a gold frame over the model. I was originally choosing between a classic black gown or a statement gold one, but the minute I saw this Moschino-inspired graffiti piece, I had to use it! Complimenting the frame, I added some gold earrings and a delicate necklace. To complete the outfit, I chose this LV x Jeff Koons clutch bag, inspired by a Fragonard painting. For my artist outfit, I went for some classic denim overalls, with one strap kept unclipped. I added a white shirt, unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up, and some Timbaland boots. For accessories, I added a beret, paintbrush and paint palette.
For my next outfits, I could not resist a pop-culture reference, especially to one of my favorite films, Clueless! Cher and Dionne are perfect best friend outfits and are super simple to achieve. For Cher’s outfit, I chose a yellow cardigan and printed miniskirt paired with a black blazer, however, you could stay true to the original with a yellow blazer instead. For accessories, I went with the thigh-high white socks and mary-jane heels, gold hoops, and a black hairband. To complete the outfit, I added some fashion magazines, and a super chic and totally ‘90s mini Chanel handbag. For my take on Dionne’s outfit, I chose a red sweater vest layered with a white blouse (unbuttoned, for a casual touch) and a plaid mini skirt. Instead of her classic plastic hat, I went for a leather beret. I then added some loafers with some sheer socks. For a handbag, I thought this Chanel bag was a nice touch with the red flowers, as her original hat had the red flower detail.
For my final outfits, I went for another classic Halloween theme, a witch and her black cat! For the witch outfit, I chose this flowy dress, with lace frills and perfect glittery cobweb detail. For an alternative to this dress, anything flowy would be great, for example; a lacey slip dress or flared pants. I then layered a choker with some silver necklaces, then added a matching bag with chain straps. For shoes, I went with these killer Mugler platforms. For my black cat outfit, I went for a super cute ‘90s inspired vibe, with the mini LBD, complete with fur trim, and then the platform sandals with frilly white socks. I then chose this cat cap and rhinestone cat choker. The red YSL clutch is a great pairing with the heart pendant on the collar.
Thank you for reading! Let me know in the comments what your Halloween costume is this year!
