First Job Tips!
For those of us who are older teenagers, the idea of getting our first job can be terrifying! Here are my tips to make your first day go as smoothly as possible, and to ensure you have a great experience all the way through to your last day.
READ your contract!
Never, ever sign a contract without reading it first! Ask for some time to read through it properly. Contracts should protect both you and your employer, so make sure you look out for the benefits you are entitled to by signing as well as the negative aspects that the job might have to it. Know what you're getting yourself into!Job training? Take notes!
If your first day consists of being shown around the workplace by a more experienced staff member, bring a notebook with you! They will show you the ropes and provide insight that will be very useful when you're on your own - if you take notes, you're much less likely to forget important details.Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Your employers won't be expecting you to know everything straight away. You can always ask your manager or one of your coworkers for tips! If you have trouble with something and ask for help, write it down in your notebook so you can remember for next time. You won't always need your notes, but while you're new, they may just save you from disaster! What's your dream first job?
