Answers to our first Q&A!
Hello Dolls!
We received sooo many questions for our first Q&A Ask a Fashion Manager!
We are so happy to see everyone wants to know more about the awesome people who work at Stardoll!
We’ve selected only few questions to be answer, but with these you will be able to know more about our lovely, Nina, Stardoll’s Fashion manager
Read here what she has answered to your questions:
Vouva2 asks: Hi Nina! Good meeting you! I would like to know who your favorite designers are and if you know anything about modern Greek fashion
Hello Vouva2, great meeting you too! My favorite designers of the moment are: Karl Lagerfeld, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Anthony Vaccarello. I know few things about modern Greek fashion, for example, you have the Athens Fashion Week and that the Greek ancient style has now become a fashion statement, so to speak.
Bernadetthe asks: Hi, Nina! I would like to know which one of the collections was the hardest to make, in a creative or graphic way? I’m waiting for your answers. kisses...
Hi Bernadetthe, we put a lot of effort into making the collections, so all of them are well thought out and well planned. But the collection I find the hardest to make is Strike a Pose, because of the concept itself. It’s a combined effort between the fashion managers and the designers. But this shop has a revolutionary concept, because Strike a Pose can give life to a Doll that does not usually move. So you need to add fashion and function and it can be quite tricky---but also the most fun!
Fannylou asks: Hey Nina! I would like to know how you became Stardoll’s fashion designer and how you keep tuned with the new fashion trends. What is the criteria for choosing brands to be released by stardoll?
Hi Fannylou! I always loved fashion and everything about it! When I was in school, I studied chemical engineering! It was great, but I could not ignore my passion for fashion. So, I moved to Stockholm to start over and follow my dream… I studied fashion design and started working in the industry. This was the best professional choice I made. Studying science gave me a unique insight into how things are made. To keep on top of the trends, I read fashion magazines, like VOGUE, they are always near me. Lately, I use Instagram, as it is fast and easy and the future of fashion marketing! At Stardoll, we don’t really have a criteria for choosing the brands. It’s a mix of your suggestions with our ideas based on trends. We have weekly meetings to discuss and plan each release.
Daribella7 asks: Hi Nina, I have a question. What is your style? It’s a very simple question, but I want to know, thanks.
Hi Daribella7, my personal style is very classic! Most of my wardrobe items are timeless, but at the same time, I like to include a trendy piece ever once in a while. For example, today I came to work with jeans, shirt, bum bag and chunky sneakers.
LiliLoverPurple: Hello, I would like to learn more about your work and ask a few questions. What inspires you to create clothes? How to find and not to lose inspiration? Is it hard to create something new? What do you feel when your collection is being shown? Do you have music that makes you go forward? Thank you very much for your time.
Hello LiliLoverPurple, I’m happy you are interested in my work. I get inspired everyday by watching people. Stockholm is a very fashionable city! However, fashion is made by everyone. I don’t create new clothes or build all the collections alone. Our fashion department decides together what to include in the new releases, we also inspire each other. There are always those days we don’t feel inspired, that’s why it’s so important to have your suggestions for new clothes and decor (keep sending them! We love them!) When the inspiration doesn’t come I look at Karl Lagerfeld’s picture on my desk which says: “Karl is watching!” I feel proud of my contribution to Stardoll, but especially because I know you love them so much! One thing we like to do is go to clubs and blogs and read about what the users think about each collection. I love to listen to music and my style is really mixed. I like jazz, pop, and electronic music. Thanks for asking!
Regikenneth97 asks: I love many of your collections. But, what is the reason to elect only one style? What I mean is, each years there are different Tributes but they are have something in common. How do you do to choose original brands, but with something in common. For example, this year I noticed Tributes with Street and Sporty style. I hope you can answer me. You do a great job ;)
Hello Regikenneth97, I’m happy you like the collections! We don’t really elect only one style. For tributes, we often pick fresh new looks that are just being released. If you notice a theme or similarity, you are probably recognizing a current fashion trend! GOOD EYE! That is a talent that is hard to aquire!
Asican asks: Hello, First of all, I would like to say that there has been very good designs lately in Starplaza and I’m enjoying it so much! Dear Nina, my first question to you: What kind of music do you listen that inspires you while picking the collections? Is there specific song? If yes, which one? I would like to listen to it ♥ My second question : Have you ever had a moment that you regret choosing an item for a collection? If yes, why and which item is it? Thank you so much in advance. ♥
Hello Asican, I’m really happy you like the last designs in StarPlaza! I mentioned above that I have a very mixed taste for music. Right now, I’m listening to A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. When I am doing work, I like to listen to a band called San Fermin--they have a mix of contemporary classical and pop. I would recommend Jackrabbit or Emily, both nice songs to listen to if you have never heard them. It is great music to work to! Hmmmm I haven’t really regretted choosing any item, but just like a real store, there are items that sell more than others, so we study this trend to bring better things next time! Thank you!
Cery123 asks: Hi Nina, first of all I would like to say that I love you! My question to you is if you have any good luck charm? Or do you have any superstitious behaviour that you do for luck?
Hi Cery123, thank you I love you too! When I am creating new stores, I like to triple check everything to make sure items work. But sometimes, mistakes get through. But I don’t know if this counts! When I was a kid, my grandmother said never put a hat on the bed, it is bad luck. I don’t really believe that, but I still don’t put hats on my bed, just in case! Haha
There were SO MANY amazing questions, but Nina ran out of time. Maybe if she has time, she will answer more of your questions later! Nina was so grateful for all the love and respect in all of your questions. She was truly touched and super pumped to keep creating collections for you all. <3
Thank you for making Callie Con 2018 so special, Nina and all the dolls who wrote in with amazing questions!
