If you think I'm talking about any mystical creatures, believe me, you are right off track!

On the web, "troll" is everyone who posts messages that are provocative, irritating or off topic. This doesn't mean that anyone who expresses an opinion different from ours is a troll. But as you can find them on Stardoll, we try to understand together how to recognize the trolls and how to behave towards them!

The purpose of trolls is simple: they want to provoke other users hoping they lose their patience. Foolish behavior? Not for trolls. For them every answer leads to another answer: "The more you insult me, the more I insult you. Let's see who stops first? Certainly not me, do you want more?" Exactly in this way we have the flame wars between users. And yes, this is foolish.

But beware, the trolls are subtle: they will never start with a strong attack. Often their first message is simply an unkind comment. It is up to us to recognize them and act accordingly.

2nd rule of Anti-troll club: never feed the trolls.

The simplest solution is to ignore the provocations resisting the temptation to respond. Because the troll doesn't like it and if it is ignored it starts pawing, showing its true nature in the hope that someone responds with other unkind messages. It looks just that.

But now we know how to recognize trolls, we can prevent the situation from deteriorating, right?
