A look inside Valentino's new digital museum.
Valentino, the man, not the brand, has just announced his newest project: the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum. The app, which one can download onto a computer, tablet or phone, offers an intimate look at Valentino’s archives. Nearly 5,000 images spanning almost 50 years show dresses, sketches, photographs and videos of 95 fashion shows. The app is designed to make you feel like you’re walking through a proper museum exhibition, with 3D technology and a sky above your head.
The looks are grouped together by occasion. In one corner, for example, is the black and white gown in which Julia Roberts won the Oscar set against Valentino’s orginal sketch and next to a photo of Roberts wearing the dress. Videos of Valentino and his partner, Giancarlo Giacometti pop up in corners of the museum as well as galleries full of Valentino Red and a look back at the epic events the designer threw over the years.
Click through to watch a preview of the app, which will launch on December 5th with a press conference in New York City.
