Meet brennivin of the USA
Hi Dollies!
As part of a competition in the club TheStyleShow, I was given the opportunity to interview lovely brennivin about her country, the USA!
1. Where are you from?
Born and raised in Mexico, I’ve been living in South Texas for about 10 years now, so I’ll speak about my current country: the USA.
2. What are the most dominant languages spoken in your country?
Along the border, Spanish and English reign as the prevalent languages in both my countries. I do believe, that we have more Spanish speakers on both sides of the border than English speakers. It’s interesting to observe people (e.g. my parents) that carry on conversations in Spanglish as if the biggest linguistic limitations didn’t matter to them.
3. Does your country have a national hero you can tell me about?
In my region, it’s impossible to go through school without hearing about Davy Crockett. He was a Tennessee celebrity that courageously fought in the Texas Revolution, dying a Texan hero at the Battle of the Alamo in San Antonio. We remember him for his raccoon hat.
4. Finally, what is your favorite thing about your country’s culture?
The best aspect of America, in my opinion, is that there is no specific culture. There is no true “American,” except for the few that can boast Native American lineage. This country is so diverse when it comes to culture, however, despite a difference in backgrounds, we all came to the United States with a dream to be better, to be innovative, and to do good for those we love and love us in return. I firmly believe that the never-ending conflict gripping our nation could end if we learned to respect different colors, beliefs, and orientations and see each other for what we all are: dreamers.
Take care,
♡ Joanne
