Magazines love fashion rules. It's one of the few things I know for fact.
The amount of times I have read that curvy people can't wear horizontal stripes and slim people can't wear vertical stripes is ridiculous.
I'm not slim, but heck I love horizontal stripes and they're one of my favorite things to wear (not to mention totally in fashion!) so why shouldn't I?

The truth is Horizontal (or Vertical) stripes can fit any figure and there are lots of ways you can do it!

1. Vary the with and consistency of the stripes
Asymmetrical stripes can create the illusions of things that don't exist, some optical illusions work like this!

2. Opt for a new colour
Black and white is my personal favorite, but there are lots of lighter or darker colour combinations you could opt for instead for a more subtle look!

3. Think about your accessories
Feel a little self conscious about your waist? You don't need to avoid horizontal stripes full stop- Perhaps try a wide waist belt!
